The Post-Journal

On April 26, Theta Beta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority celebrated Founder's Day at The White Inn in Fredonia.

To commence the events, Mary Rogers led the Beta Sigma Phi grace. Tracie Cederquist, president, read the pledge and the message from International, which revealed the 2012-13 theme, "You're Among Friends." After these events, Ms. Cederquist was presented the Woman of the Year award by her chapter.

During the dinner, Joyce Anderson presented her program "Medicine - When the Best Medicine Is Not A Drug." She described five supplements for allergies, high cholesterol, depression, heartburn and insomnia that may have fewer side effects. She said patients should consult with a doctor before trying these supplements or substituting these supplements for their medications.

Following the dinner, Ms. Cederquist presided at a brief business meeting. She said Inta Damcott's May 10 meeting will be held at Claytopia in Erie, Pa.; the Mother's Day celebration will be May 12 in Clymer and the installation of officers will be May 24 at the Mary Roger's home. The service committee discussed the Daphna Petersen Art Award for a student at Chautauqua Lake Central School; a contribution to the Sherman Central School After Prom Party; a barbecue basket for a Sherman family fundraiser; and a future donations to a home that helps domestic violence victims.

Concluding the meeting, members recited the closing ritual.
