CONEWANGO VALLEY - Delmar F. Lange, 89, of Brown Road, Conewango Valley, passed away at 8:40 p.m., Sunday April 22, 2012, in Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center in Jamestown.
He was born March 3, 1923, in Silver Creek, N.Y., the son of the late William and Lillian Voss Lange.
He attended high school in Silver Creek, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II from January 3, 1943, to December 31, 1945. He re-ceived the Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victo-ry Medal, American Cam-paign Medal and the Asiat-ic Pacific Medal. He was a member of the Jamestown Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 53 and the American Legion.
Mr. Lange retired from Barnes Construction in Fal-coner, where he was a car-penter. In earlier years, he had worked for Bob Hilt Construction and James-town Plywood. He was a member of Carpenters Un-ion Local 66. Delmar also enjoyed woodworking and making gun cabinets for family and friends, and playing cards.
He is survived by three daughters: Bonnie Sweat-man and her husband, Arthur of Bemus Point, De-bra Lange of Hinsdale, and Nancy Lange of Conewan-go Valley; two sons: James Lange and his wife, Karen of Ashville, and William Lange and his wife, Missy of Jamestown; 16 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude A. Sheldon Lange, whom he marred Oct. 12, 1946, and who predeceased him on Oct. 5, 2011; a daughter, Shirley Marie Lange Stuart; and a sister, Evelyn Schanzlin.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday (April 25, 2012), in the VanRensselaer & Son Fun-eral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph, from where the family will receive friends two hours prior to the ser-vices from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Rev. Gerald Haglund, chaplain of Heritage Minis-tries, will officiate. Burial will follow in Randolph Cemetery. Full military honors will be conducted by the Randolph American Legion Post 181.
