LILY DALE - On Monday and Tuesday, the Lily Dale playground will be receiving a facelift.
The event is being organized by the Lily Dale Children's Committee. The Lily Dale Assembly will provide many of the materials and the Lily Dale maintenance crew will to be on hand for various tasks as well. The playground project is a Lily Dale community project. Community volunteers will be repairing the playground borders, refurbishing the play elements, putting up new swing chains, and providing refreshments, as well as participating in the woodchip replacement labor.
As part of National Volunteer Week and Global Youth Service Days, student volunteers from the Cassadaga Job Corps Academy will provide free labor for removal of old woodchips, digging out of area to necessary depth, installation of weed barrier, and placement of new woodchips.
More volunteers are needed to participate. Those interested in volunteering or contributing can call Willa White, playground project coordinator, at 595-3755.
Volunteers are asked to bring their own rakes, shovels, and wheelbarrows if possible, and are asked to wear clothing and footwear appropriate to the work and weather.
