JAMESTOWN POLICE

Shane M. Messere, 34, of Jamestown, was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance at 9:15 a.m. Thursday. He is currently being held at the city jail and is awaiting arraignment. He will appear in court later.

WARREN POLICE

Steven R. Snyder of Warren was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and aggravated assault following an incident at the Warren County Court House at 2:03 p.m. Wednesday. According to a police report, Snyder caused a disturbance in the basement of the court house and was asked to leave. He continued to cause a disturbance using foul language and fled from officers as they were attempting to make a legal arrest of him. He kicked an officer in the kneecap area, causing injury. He is being held in the Warren County Jail and will appear in court later.

Thomas W. Smith of Warren was charged with failure to obey a steady red traffic light following a traffic accident at Hickory and W. Third streets at 7:13 p.m. Tuesday. According to a police report, a blue Subaru Impreza being operated by Smith failed to stop at a red light and struck a red Volkswagen Jetta. No injuries were reported. Smith will be issued a citation.

CATTARAUGUS COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE

COLDSPRING - Ward B. Wheeler, 54, of Steamburg, was charged with failure to appear for a bench warrant at 9:45 p.m. on April 4. According to a police report, Wheeler was transported to the Cattaraugus County Jail and is being held without bail. He will appear in court later.

HINSDALE - John C. Sheldon, 47, of Cuba, was charged with second-degree harassment at 7:55 p.m. on April 1. Sheldon was taken to the Town of Hinsdale Court for arraignment and was released on his own recognizance. He will appear in court later.

YORKSHIRE - Lucas M. Burdick, 18, of Yorkshire, was charged with third-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child. According to a police report, Burdick threw a 13-year-old male, also of Yorkshire, against the front door of a house and punched him several times. Burdick was arraigned at the Town of Ashford court and released on his own recognizance. He will appear in court later.
