To the Readers' Forum:
The Family Court needs a new system to deal with dead beat parents.
Putting dead beat parents in jail causes over crowding of the jails. The county jails should only be used for charges in the criminal system.
I do not have the solution for the Family Court, but I read The Post-Journal's articles of the Sheriff Department budget. The actions of the family court system is stressing the resources of the criminal court. Do I have the answer? No. But it should be looked into by the powers to be.
If Social Services can require contact with Chautauqua Works, and contacts for employment, this may be a start. Someone needs to get a handle on this and get it off the sheriffs' dime.
