Westfield Senior Citizens will meet for dinner, provided by the Westfield Women's Organization, at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 12, in the YWCA. No table service is required. A program will be presented by a member of the Westfield Police on identity theft.
Shirley Kolpien, president, called a recent meeting to order. Joyce Wainwright, chaplain, read a poem by Clay Harrison. New members Nancy Sanick and Carleton Stetson were welcomed.
Jane Morris and Jennifer Ellman, of the Office for the Aging, spoke on various forms of elder abuse, having a health care proxy and power of attorney in place for seniors. Pamphlets on avoiding scams and financial exploitation by family members and friends were distributed.
Celebrating birthdays were Pat Smith, Jean Stebell, Ms. Kolpien, Enid Beadle and Gladys Hess. Get well and sympathy cards were sent to members.
Discussion was on the July 12 boat trip on the Chautauqua Belle. Reservations must be made by the June meeting. Contact Ms. Kolpien or Dolores Kaufman for reservations. A bag lunch picnic will be at 4 p.m., followed by the boat ride at 5 p.m.
