WEBSTER - Megan and Matthew Marsh of Bemus Point recently competed at the Niagara District Short Course Championship Meet with the Town of Tonawanda Titans swim team recently.
Each swimmer had to reach A times for the National Age Group Times, and AA times in the sprint freestyle events to compete in this championship swim meet.
Matthew and Megan competed in seven events each, swimming preliminaries and finals in all 13-14 year old division. They also contributed to team points by swimming in five team relays throughout the weekend. Matthew and Megan dropped time in each of their seven individual events.

Matthew earned AA standards in five of his individual events. He placed third in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:08.52. He placed eighth place in both the 50 free( 24.39) and 100 free( 53.78) events. He dropped moe than eight seconds in his 500 freestyle, finishing 12th in 5:18.29. He also swam personal-best times in the 100 backstroke (1:01.52) and 200 backstroke (2:13.25) placing 11th in both events.
Megan had qualifying times in individual events for the Speedo Sectional meet at Miami University at Oxford Ohio. She placed second in the 200 individual medley with a personal-best time of 2:12.42 AAA time. She also placed second in the 200 breaststroke (2:28.84) and the 100 breaststroke (1:07.30), earning AAAA times in the 100 breaststroke. She swam a personal best-time by three seconds in the 100 butterfly, finishing fifth with a 1:01.43 for a AAA time.
She also took sixth in the 200 freestyle with a 2:00.28 and an 11th with a personal-best time of 25.72 in the50 freestyle. She swam a 55.89 in the 100 freestyle event for 12th place.
She earned AAA times in all her individual events with a AAAA time in her 100 breaststroke.
Megan and Matthew will begin long course training with the Titan swim club for the upcoming 2012 long course Niagara District swim season.
