Mrs. Lillian Carpenter of Sinclairville celebrated her 90th birthday on Feb. 19. Lillian was born in Stockton in 1922, just after her parents relocated from Minnesota. She has fond memories of growing up and working on a farm. She attended Stockton High School and graduated from Cassadaga Valley High School with the class of 1939. Lillian took voice lessons from Chautauqua Institution and sang on WJTN Radio. She married Russell Carpenter in 1949 and moved to Sinclairville. Her husband passed away in 1960. They had one child, Rusty, who lives in Kiantone with his wife, Judy, and granddaughter, Emily Carpenter.
Mrs. Carpenter was employed at Stockton Elementary and Cassadaga Valley Central School for many years. She enjoyed photography, playing the piano and traveling the United States with Bernard Thompson, her companion of 15 years. She was active member of the Sinclairville 76ers for many years. She now enjoys having lunch at the Sinclairville Fire Hall three days a week.
