Jean Shiffer of Jamestown, N.Y., and Stephen and Janet Shiffer of Silver Springs, Md., announce the engagement of their daughter, Melissa, to Thom Cornell, the son of George and Lois Cornell of Edinboro, Pa.
Miss Shiffer is a 2001 graduate of Jamestown High School, a 2006 graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo, graduating cum laude with a bachelor's degree in exercise science, and earned her doctor of physical therapy degree at Nazareth College in 2009. She is employed by Highland Hospital in Rochester, N.Y., as a physical therapist. Her fiance is a 1999 graduate of Chautauqua Lake High School, attended the State University of New York at Buffalo, and graduated from Ohio Technical College in 2007 and BMWSTEP in 2008. He is employed by BMW of Rochester as a technician.
A Sept. 9, 2012, wedding is planned in Rochester, N.Y.
