Kindergarten Roundup Set
All parents of children who will be 5 years old on or before Dec. 1, are urged to call Southwestern Elementary School at 664-1881 to register for roundup which is being held April 23 to May 3. New families in the area that may not be listed on the school census should contact the school as soon as possible. Also, Southwestern Central School District is accepting applications for the Universal Pre-Kindergarten program. Admission is by lottery drawing and the program is contingent upon New York state funding. Applications may be obtained by calling the elementary school at 664-1881.
Church To Host Dinner, Movie
CASSADAGA - The Cassadaga Community Baptist Church, located in the village at 25 Maple Ave., will hold a free dinner and movie night this Friday in the Fellowship Hall. The dinner will be served at 6 p.m., which will be spaghetti and meatballs, with a tossed salad and bread, and the movie "A Man Called Norman" will follow. Nancy Meyers will be making the special dessert for the dinner. The dinner and movie are free, and is open to everyone to attend. All are welcome.
TEA Party Patriots To Meet
Southern Tier TEA Party Patriots will hold its monthly general meeting at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 28, at the Lakewood American Legion, 174 Chautauqua Ave., Lakewood. The meeting is open to the public. The group's next meeting will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 10, when state Sen. Cathy Young will be speaking. Sid Compton will present a plan Feb. 28 for saving village taxpayers money with a strategy to streamline village representation throughout Chautauqua County. Also, attention will be given to what is being done legislatively to push back the Obama administration's anti-conscience mandate against the Catholic Church.
Legion To Hold Monthly Meeting
The February meeting of the Chautauqua County American Legion will be held on Friday at the John W. Dill Post 434 Brocton. State Sen. Catharine Young will be in addition to present special awards and medals. All legionnaires are urged to attend this meeting.
