CLARENCE - Swimmers and divers from the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association performed in style Saturday at the Section 6 Championships at Clarence High School.
Four of them, in fact, earned berths in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Championships in two weeks.
Andrew Marsh of Jamestown and Jacob Kohler of Frewsburg qualified in two events, while Thad Johnson of Frewsburg and Jordan Powers of Southwestern qualified in one apiece.
Placing first in both of his events, Marsh set pool records in the 100-yard butterfly (50.70) and the 100 backstroke (51.93), while Kohler claimed second in the 200 individual medley (2:01.11) and seventh in the 500 freestyle (4:58.38).
The first-place winner in the 200 IM was Andrew Duszynski of Orchard Park (1:57.90), while Frontier's Willy Patrum was first in the 500 freestyle (4:38.46).
Meanwhile, Johnson was third in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.20) - Matt Schutt of Starpoint earned the top spot in 57.99 - and Powers was eighth in the 500 freestyle (4:59.32).
Marsh, Kohler, Johnson and Powers - by virtue of their performances over the weekend or by qualifying times throughout the season - advance to the state meet March 2-3 at Erie Community College's Flickinger Center.

In other results from the CCAA, Jeff Green of Southwestern was fourth in diving (4:05.40) and Jamestown's Phil Tubbs was ninth (356.25); Frewsburg with the quartet of Kohler, Johnson, Kyle Pownall and Nick Holsinger was sixth (1:44.81) and Jamestown with the team of Marsh, Matt Caldwell, Allan Smith and Rishi Gupta was 12th (1:47.21) in the 200 medley relay; Powers was eighth in the 200 freestyle (1:50.38); Frewsburg with the team of Chase Gregory, Kohler, Nick Holsinger and Jacob Caldwell (1:37.35) was eighth and Southwestern's Skye Smith, Green, Drew Blasius and Powers 13th in the 200 freestyle relay (1:37.35); Southwestern's 400 freestyle relay of Skye Smith, Green, Blasius and Powers was 12th (3:31.48) after setting a school record (3:29.63) in the preliminaries; Andrew Caldwell of Jamestown was 15th in the 100 backstroke (1:00.57); and Blasius was 16th in the 50 freestyle (23.47).
