CHEEKTOWAGA - Silver Creek and Fredonia were the top finishers out of seven local teams competing in the Section 6 Girls Bowling Championships at Thruway Lanes on Friday.
The Lady Black Knights claimed the title in Class D with a 4,390 total, edging out Forestville, who shot 4,380. Overall, Silver Creek was 25th out of 47 teams competing in the event while the Lady Hornets were 26th.
As for the Lady Hillbillies, they battled to a second-place spot in Class C with a 4,695 pin total. Tonawanda was the champion with 4,722, finishing 11th.
Gowanda (4,607) was 14th, Dunkirk took 24th place (4,428), Southwestern was 33rd (4,104) and Frewsburg placed 40th (3,830).
The Class A and overall sectional champions were Niagara Falls (4,958) with North Tonawanda the runnerup (4,332). Williamsville South won Class B (4,871) while Maryvale was second (4,846).
