Quinn Ortiz, 11, of 112 Crossman St., died at 5:11 p.m., Wednesday (Feb. 8, 2011), in the emergency department of WCA Hospi-tal, as a result of injuries from a car-pedestrian ac-cident.
He was born Dec. 19, 2000, in Paterson, N.J., the son of Telly and Autumn Gurnari Ortiz.
He was a fifth-grade stu-dent at George Washington Middle School, where he had been a member of the student council.
Quinn was a member of the Northside Warriors midget football team, where he was a running back but particularly liked playing defense, was a four- year member of the Peppy Dental Babe Ruth Baseball team and was also a member of the Babe Ruth All Star team. He had a great interest in all things military, and will be missed by his family and many friends.
Along with his parents, he is survived by a brother, Telly Ortiz Jr.; a sister, Nina Ortiz; his paternal grand-mother, Carmen Bravo of Paterson, N.J.; his maternal grandparents: Timothy Gurnari of Paterson, N.J., and Cecelia Dhondt of Jamestown; and by several aunts, uncles, great-aunts, great-uncles; and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Felix G. Ortiz; and by his maternal great-grandmoth-er, Ellen Gurnari.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Powers, Present & Sixbey Funeral Home. The Rev. John Kuhlmann, will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
