SILVER CREEK - Chad A. Ellis was charged with seven counts of endangering the welfare of a child Tuesday, but it has recently come to light that he may have met the 14-year-old recipient of his explicit text messages at work as a bus driver for Silver Creek Central School District.
According to David Kurzawa, Silver Creek interim superintendent, the 31-year-old Ellis, of 970 Newton St. in Irving, resigned from his position as a bus driver two weeks ago.
However, the report alleges Ellis sent text messages that were sexual in nature over the course of two months, while he was still employed by the district.
According to Silver Creek Board of Education agendas and summary reports on the school's website, Ellis was hired on a probationary appointment in January of last year, served as a summer bus driver and gained a permanent appointment last October.
The sheriff's office was assisted in its investigation of Ellis by Silver Creek Police. The investigation is ongoing.
