Third-Graders Study Human Body Systems

January 8, 2012
The Post-Journal

Third-graders have been working hard at many subjects. In December, they focused on the human body. Students took turns tracing each other's bodies and then each student drew one of the human body systems on their own body outline. Systems that were drawn were respiratory, circulatory, nervous, digestive, muscular, skeletal and a complete organ system. They hung their ''bodies'' in the hallway and had a visit from Dr. Lillian Ney. She talked about the heart, and students used stethoscopes to listen to their own and each other's heartbeats. It has been a great unit and the students have learned a lot about their own bodies and how they work.
