LAKEWOOD - During the month of January, photos by D. Arlene Bonnett and Susan M. Songster-Weaver will be on display at the Lakewood Library in an exhibit entitled ''The Lakelady Photographers.'' Most of the exhibit will have an outdoor theme, and some will center on the beauty of the Chautauqua Lake area.
Bonnett and Weaver have a lot in common besides loving Chautauqua Lake and photography. Bonnett has lived most of her life in the Smethport, Pa., area. She has always had a love of nature, and she has spent much time enjoying the wilds of Pennsylvania. Since her retirement as a teacher, she has had the time to foster this love of nature through a new passion - photography. For Bonnett, photography captures the wonderment of our existence in our environment. Besides her current favorite photos, her photography board also exhibits a quote by Albert Einstein: ''There are two ways to live your life: One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.'' To Bonnett, photography articulates that life is truly a miracle. She hopes you enjoy these ''captured'' life experiences as much as she has enjoyed them.
Weaver grew up in Cattaraugus County and moved to the Jamestown area permanently in 1999 when she took a job at Southwestern Elementary School. She taught writing and the gifted-talented program until 2008, when she retired. As an avid ''outdoor'' girl, Weaver tries to have her camera handy when she is hiking, kayaking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing or just enjoying nature. She is also one of the contributing writers for the Chautauqua Watershed Notes, which appear in The Sunday Post-Journal. Both of the ladies belong to the Jamestown Audubon Photography Club.
