Residents from Tanglewood Manor, Memory Garden and Comfort Today Adult Day Services got in the holiday spirit and headed for the store for some Christmas shopping to benefit the Toys for Tots drive.
Heading down the toy aisle brought back many happy memories of shopping for their own children. Stories of Christmases past were shared and though toys have changed a lot from when they shopped many years ago, some still seemed familiar and brought back smiles. Each resident got involved in picking out gifts for boys and girls of all ages. There were dolls, toy cars, puzzles, teddy bears and more in the carts, and the residents were excited thinking about how happy the children would be on Christmas morning when they opened their gifts.
Being able to give to someone else satisfies a basic need in all of us, and especially at Christmas time, the joy of helping someone else brought joy to the residents' hearts.
