LSS Worker Earns 40 Under 40 Award

Tracy Swyers, physical therapist and director of rehabilitation at Lutheran Home and Rehab Center in Jamestown, was recently honored by Buffalo's Business First Magazine as a recipient of the 40 Under 40 Award for 2011 by Business First.

Recognition was given at an awards luncheon held at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center with more than 700 guests in attendance.

"We are proud of Tracy and her accomplishments," said Tom Holt, LSS president and chief executive officer. "We are fortunate to have someone with her passion and expertise leading our Rehab Team and caring for our residents."

Ms. Swyers has obtained her GCS in physical therapy - a national board certification demonstrating advanced proficiency in the field of geriatric physical therapy. She is a diplomat of the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. Her community involvement centers on children, and includes coaching children's sports, teaching Sunday school, assisting with church functions and actively participating in charity events.

"I am truly honored and thankful to receive such a prestigious award, and to be in the company of current and past honorees," Ms. Swyers said. "The rewards come back to us when we are dedicated to advancing our communities, helping children grow and providing compassionate care to our geriatric populations."

Ms. Swyers earned a bachelor's degree in clinical science and a masters degree, summa cum laude, in physical therapy from Ithaca College. She has more than 17 years of experience with 10 years as a rehab program director. An NCAA All-American athlete, she brings a special interest in orthopedics to LSS. In addition to her expertise in geriatrics, she has experience in home health, chronic pain management, outpatient orthopedic rehab, and instruction at the collegiate level for physical therapist assistant programming.
