EAST RANDOLPH - A Cattaraugus County Sheriff's deputy has been treated and released from WCA Hospital after he was hit by a car on Route 242 in East Randolph on Wednesday.
According to a police report, Jordan Haines, who has been a deputy for three years, responded to an accident on Route 242 in which a car hit a deer. While dealing with the wounded deer, Haines was hit by a passing vehicle. Police report Haines had serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the vehicle that hit Haines stopped at the scene and was cooperative with the investigation. The driver's name has not been released.
The incident is being investigated by the New York State Police.
