Students Show Off Native American Projects

December 11, 2011
The Post-Journal

Fifth-graders in Ms. Susan Waite's social studies classes studied four different regions of Native Americans: Northwest Coast, Plains, Southwest and Eastern Woodlands. Each group researched the people, culture and natural resources of their regions before designing a poster displaying their findings. In addition, each student was given the task of creating a piece of art depicting a specific resource, person, place or event within that region. Oral presentations gave students the opportunity to share their knowledge of their assigned region using the group poster and their individual project. All posters and projects were displayed in the fifth-grade house area for parents and visitors to view as they attended parent/teacher conferences in November. Pictured from left are Faizan Munir, David McCarty and Austin Schnars.
