American Honey Queen Teresa Bryson shares her knowledge with Ring Elementary students during a recent visit to the school.

"Two million!" said the Ring Elementary School students during a recent visit by the American Honey Queen, Teresa Bryson. Ms. Bryson's visit, sponsored by the American Beekeeping Federation, was chock full of interesting facts about honeybees, beekeeping and the production of honey. Ms. Bryson travels talking to students and communities about honeybees.

She talked about how the bees make honey, the different honeybees and their jobs. Students learned there is only one queen bee in each hive and she never sleeps. Her only job is to lay eggs. Mrs. Bryson also demonstrated how a beehive works and the role of a beekeeper. She showed students an actual (non-working) beehive and what honey looks like before it goes in the jar at the grocery store.
