The Post-Journal

COLUMBUS, Ind. (AP) - Cummins Inc. said Wednesday it tapped a longtime employee to become vice president and the engine maker's chief manufacturing officer.

The company said Jim Lyons would focus on improving manufacturing performance, including meeting delivery schedules and reducing waste. He will also head the company's health and safety organization.

Lyons has been with Cummins for 38 years, and since 2007 has been president of its turbo technologies segment. A replacement has not been named.

Cummins makes diesel and other types of engines for trucks, heavy equipment and other uses.
