LAKEWOOD - DFT Technology Plus now has a second location opened in Lakewood.

The Lakewood Village Center is the location for the company's newest retail store. DFT Technology Plus is a part of the DFT Communications family of services. Customers to the new store location will find a full-line of name brand computers including Dell, Acer, Lenovo, HP, Asus, and the custom-built Atom computer. Name brand televisions will include Samsung, Sharp Aquos and Toshiba and electronics and home theater equipment will feature name brands such as Sony, Yamaha, Boston Acoustic and Onkyo. As part of the complete multimedia experience that can be found in each of the DFT Technology Plus stores, there is an emphasis with ''hands-on demonstrations'' providing the customer with an opportunity to explore their options and experience the products before taking it home. The staff is dedicated to providing quality service and will help customers make their choices with confidence. Computer repair service is also available from the Atomic Squad.

The new store opened Sept. 24 and Jeff Carpenter, retail sales manager, said business has been great so far.

''People are checking us out to see what we are all about,'' he said. ''People associate the DFT name with just home phone and internet. People are surprised by all that we do. A large part of our business is computer sales, computer repair, television and home theater sales, and home theater installation.''

Carpenter said the trained staff will go to a customer's home or office to install their computer or home theater system.

''You're never left with having to do it yourself,'' he said.

With the new stores in the Lakewood Village Center like T.J. Maxx, Michaels and Pet Smart, DFT officials knew it was a great location for a second store.

''There is a lot of growth in the plaza... this is going to be the destination for people wanting to shop. We wanted to be a part of that,'' Carpenter said.

The store has not yet set a grand opening celebration, but one is being planned. He said there are a wide number of specials for customers right now, including 30 percent off a computer system optimization service.

''We will clean it up and make it run fast,'' he said.

The store is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call 483-8000.
