Church Plans Sunday Dinner
LEON - The Leon Celebration Fellowship Church, in the Historic Church Building, corner of Route 62 and Cherry Creek Hill, Leon, will host a homemade chicken and biscuit dinner from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Pie and coffee are included with the meal. The cost is a donation.
Rummage Sale Begins Friday
St. James Church, 27 Allen St., Jamestown, will hold a fall rummage sale from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and a $1 bag sale from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
Library Begins Story Hour
ELLINGTON - The monthly story hour and children's craft day in the Farman Free Library, Ellington, will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday. The theme is "Get Ready for Winter" and takes a look at how the Earth - its humans, plants and other animals - prepares for the long winter's months. Refreshments will be served. Support Group To Meet Today
The Breast Cancer Support Group will meet for dinner at 6 p.m. today at Friendly's Restaurant, followed by its meeting at 7 p.m. featuring guest speaker Dr. Lio Yu. The title of his talk is "Breast Cancer Treatment Today: Something Old, Something New, Something Blue.'' Anyone with breast cancer issues is invited to come and meet the area's newest cancer doctor and welcome him to the area. Group members are also reminding area residents to participate in "Turn on the PINK to black out breast cancer" by purchasing a pink light bulb and placing it in porch lights throughout October.
