Richard and Jean Anderson of Mayville, N.Y., celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Aug. 14, 2011, with a family picnic. The celebration was hosted by their children: Rick (Cindy) Anderson of Mayville, N.Y.; Bob (Donna) Anderson of Amherst, N.Y.; Don (Penny) Anderson of New York and Florida; Deborah (Elmer) Kaprolat Jr. of Westfield, N.Y.; Kathy (Bruce) Sweeney of Ashville, N.Y.; and Beth (Scot) Cummings of Mayville, N.Y. They also have eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Anderson and the former Jean VanderMeulen were married Aug. 24, 1946, in the Mayville Lutheran Church. The Rev. Birt Harris performed the ceremony.
Anderson was employed by Ethan Allen. Mrs. Anderson was a homemaker. They are members of Dewittville Hartfield United Methodist Church.
