John and Joan Emerson of Bemus Point, N.Y., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 8, 2011, with a party at Moon Brook Country Club. The celebration was hosted by their sons: Clay Emerson of Orlando, Fla., and Bill Emerson of Jamestown, N.Y. They also have two grandchildren.
Emerson and the former Joan Ford were married July 8, 1961, in First Congregational Church, Jamestown, N.Y. The Rev. Ellis Eaton performed the ceremony.
Emerson is retired from Art Metal Corporation. Mrs. Emerson is a retired school teacher having taught in Rochester and Westfield and is the former education director at the Fenton Historical Center.
