A child abducted in Jamestown on Friday morning is safe and home with her family while law enforcement agencies throughout the region are investigating the incident.

The Jamestown Police Department, the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Department and the FBI are investigating the abduction of a 12-year-old girl from her residence near Harris Avenue and Benedict Street in the city during the morning hours.

Police believe that the suspect drove the child out to the Scott Hill Road area in the town of Poland.

The suspect is believed to be a white male, driving a newer model gold or bronze minivan in or around the Harris Avenue and Benedict Street area early Friday morning.

No other information is being released at this time. Anyone with information is asked to call the Jamestown Police Department at 483-7537.
