YMCA Partner With Youth Drive Exceeds Goal

July 26, 2011
The Post-Journal

The Jamestown Area YMCA recently raised $56,480 during their Partner with Youth annual giving campaign. The initial goal was $50,000.

The purpose of the campaign is to raise funds for youth and families in the local community who are unable to pay for membership or program participation at the YMCA. The money earned will help pay for summer camp, after-school programs, youth and teen programs and scholarships for membership to the YMCA.

Under the direction of Valerie Ells, chairman, and Mark Eckendorf, YMCA executive director, the campaign was very successful.

"I cannot thank the volunteers, members, staff, and our local community enough for their continued support," Eckendorf said. "Without contributions to this necessary campaign, the Y could not fulfill its mission on a daily basis."

Recognition awards were presented to Anne Dolce and Holly Hannon, staff outstanding campaigners, Joelle Conti Washer, division leader of the year, Doug Schutte, top branch money raised representing the Lakewood YMCA, Lisa and Paul Andalora and Linda Knight, campaigners of the year with highest pledges, and Kirstin Harris, campaigner of the year with highest amount raised.

For more information or to donate to the campaign, please call Scott Mekus, membership and marketing director, at the Jamestown YMCA at 644-2802, ext. 236.
