A 17-year-old was charged on six counts after leading police on a short chase and resisting arrest during an incident on Route 62 in Conewango.
Police say Lewis D Hostetler was witnessed driving his buggy down Route 62 with an open can of beer in his hand. Deputies attempted to stop Hostetler and he refused, taking patrols on a short chase that did eventually result in him pulling the buggy over for police.
Hostetler then allegedly became belligerent with deputies and refused to cooperate and comply with commands. Deputies attempted to place Hostetler under arrest at which time he resisted arrest and was taken into custody.
Hostetler was charged with second-degree obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, unlawful possession of an alcoholic beveral with the intent to consume, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, insufficient tail lamps and littering on the highway.
He was arraigned in the Randolph Town Court and remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail on $500 cash bail or $1000 property bond. Hostetler is to appear in the Conewango Town Court at a later date.
