Howard and Joanne Lundgren of Jamestown, N.Y., celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on April 16, 2011, at the Sheldon House. The celebration was hosted by their daughter, Dr. Janell Lundgren, of Cincinnati, Ohio. They also have two grandsons: Joshua Lundgren-Dolan and Jeremy (Lauren) White, both of Ohio. Members of the original wedding party in attendance were Regina Johnson Ellis, matron of honor, and Jerome Lundgren, usher.
They were married April 15, 1951, in the First Lutheran Church. The Rev. Dr. Paul A. Westerberg, pastor of the church, and the Rev. Paul Peterson, pastor of First Covenant Church, performed the ceremony.
Lundgren served in the Army during World War II and was employed as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 39 years at the Jamestown branch. He also enjoyed singing with the First Lutheran Church choir and the Viking Male Chorus for more than 50 years. Mrs. Lundgren had worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, First Lutheran Church, and more recently Peterson's Farm Market, retiring at the end of last year.
