A Jamestown man is in the hospital after a stabbing incident early Sunday morning.
According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers were called to the area of Willard Street at 5:50 a.m., after a person living in the area called to report a man on their porch yelling for help and bleeding.
"We did get several 911 calls saying that there was a man walking door to door and was bleeding in need of help," said JPD Captain Robert Samuelson.
When officers arrived, they found a 42-year-old man had been stabbed multiple times, he said. The man was taken to WCA Hospital for treatment of his wounds.
"Our guys get there and start first aid and EMS transported him to the hospital where he underwent surgery for his wounds," he said.
According to Samuelson, the man had suffered multiple stab wounds in his arms and lost a considerable amount of blood.
"I was told they are nothing life-threatening but there was quite a bit of blood in the trail, so we know he lost quite a bit," he said. "But they were able to get him taken care of before any further damage could happen."
Officers believe the incident occurred at 346 Willard St. during an after-hours party.
"It sounds like there was an after hours party at the address on Willard Street," he said. "At some point a fight breaks out where this guy is, we believe, attacked by multiple people. At least one of those people stabbed him several times."
The man was able to flee and was going door to door looking for help.
"He went to multiple locations, as we followed the blood trail," he said. "Given the time of day, obviously nobody is up at that hour, 5:50 a.m. Sunday morning. Nobody opened their doors, rightfully so."
No motive for the crime was immediately released, and the police department is looking for help from the community.
"That is why we are asking for assistance here," he said. "We know where it happened, and we are still trying to locate people to interview them. We are looking for help from somebody who either may have been at this party or may have witnessed this, because this is a very serious event. It could have been a fatality."
Anyone with information on the crime is asked to contact the Jamestown Police Department at 483-7531 or via the TIPS email through the department's website. All calls and tips will be kept strictly confidential.
The victim's name was not immediately released due to the ongoing investigation.
