Rogers Elementary School students recently participated in a fourth-grade reading day.
Students spent the entire day in their pajamas reading and completing a variety of activities directly connected to reading including: reading across content areas, teacher read-aloud's, independent reading, partner-reading with younger students and creating a spring booklet. Teachers Jill Smith, Lloyd Long and Brooke Isaacson planned the reading day as a way for students to participate in fun and educational reading activities.
"Students were so excited to read but they were still learning critical ELA skills," Mrs. Isaacson said. "We pulled in many different genres such as poetry, fiction and non-fiction along with vocabulary and writing practice. It was a unique way for students to learn and develop necessary reading strategies."
