Milton and Norma Hewes of Mayville, N.Y., celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Oct. 30, 2010, with a dinner at Webb's Captain's Table in Mayville. The celebration was hosted by their children: Geoffrey and Diane Dietrich of Salamanca, N.Y., Robert and Linda Eames of Lindenhurst, Ill., and Donald and Shirley Hewes of Ashville, N.Y. They also have six grandchildren: David and Steven Dietrich; and Craig, Curtis, Christopher and Courtney Hewes, and two great-grandchildren: Gavin Dietrich and Devin Hewes. Also in attendance from their original wedding party were Nancy White and Shirley Armburger, bridesmaids.
Hewes and the former Norma Stebbins were married Nov. 4, 1950, in Edwards Chapel Church in Clymer, N.Y. The Rev. Leo McGaughy performed the ceremony.
Hewes is a retired teacher from Mayville Central School and a retired employee from the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Department. He is a member of the Chautauqua Fire Department. Mrs. Hewes is retired from Chase Bank in Mayville, N.Y., and Andriaccio's Restaurant. She is active in the Chautauqua Fire Department Auxiliary.
