The Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce has announced that Roger Brooks, founder and CEO of Destination Development International, will serve as keynote speaker at this year's Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Banquet to be held on Thursday, Oct. 28 at 6 p.m. at the Chautauqua Suites Meeting & Expo Center, Mayville.
Brooks, who is one of the world's leading specialists on community branding, development, marketing and tourism, worked with the Chautauqua County Visitors' Bureau and various organizations to develop a brand for Chautauqua County. Out of their hard work came Chautauqua County: 'The World's Learning Center.' This new brand proclaims what visitors and residents have known for over a century; that Chautauqua County is a premier destination location for leisure learning, as well as a hub for prominent writers, scientists, businessmen, politicians, and teachers of all disciplines to come and share their expertise and information in a relaxing vacation setting.
Co-author of the book "Your Town: A Destination - The 25 Immutable Rules of Successful Tourism," Brooks has assisted nearly 1,000 communities around the world with their efforts to become outstanding destinations - for local residents and visitors alike. After spending several years in the concert industry providing tour management to international recording artists, Brooks was offered the opportunity to help brand and market several renowned destination resorts. He began by assisting Whistler, British Columbia, and Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, with their ground-floor efforts. He has since worked in 41 states and nine Canadian provinces over the past 25 years.
Brooks' dynamic and entertaining style has made him one of the most popular keynote speakers in the industry. Using stories and real-life examples to inspire and ignite his audiences, he empowers his listeners to make a difference in their communities. His enthusiasm is contagious: He has become one of North America's most recognized and frequently quoted experts in the tourism and community branding field.
