ALLEGANY TERRITORY - The Seneca Party, the dominant political power in recent Seneca Nation of Indians elections, selected two new party chairs and other officers at recent meetings.
On the Cattaraugus Territory, the new chairman is Tribal Council Member and businessman J.C. Seneca, who was selected party chairman over Scott Snyder, the son of current Nation President Barry E. Snyder Sr.
Also named were Co-Chair Angel Williams, Treasurer Irma Conant, and Secretary Karen Armstrong.
Representing the Allegany Territory in the party's leadership structure are Chairwoman Odie Brant Porter, Co-Chair Adam Kennedy, Treasurer Steve Watt, and Secretary Trishelle Murphy.
Odie Brant Porter is also executive director of the Seneca Nation Capital Improvements Authority.
The Seneca Party Caucus to nominate candidates for executive, legislative and judicial offices will be held Friday Sept. 17 on both territories with voting from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The caucus voting on the Allegany will be held at the Jimersontown Fire Hall and on the Cattaraugus at the Cattaraugus Fire Hall.
