The Post-Journal

Ray and Bessie Anderson of Jamestown, N.Y., celebrated their 50th wedding on Aug. 14 and 15, 2010, with a picnic at the Busti Church of God and a boat ride on the Summer Wind. The celebration was hosted by their children: Randall and Maureen Anderson of Kennedy, N.Y., Melissa and David Meyers of Allegany, N.Y., Jonathan and Arlene Anderson of Gerry, N.Y., Evan and Chris Anderson of Sherman, N.Y., and Mark and Karla Anderson of Sublimity, Ore. They also have eight grandchildren. Out-of-state guests attended from Michigan, Indiana, Arizona, California and New Jersey.

Anderson and the former Bessie Thor were married Aug. 26, 1960, in the Busti Church of God. The Rev. H.S. Rowe and the Rev. J.C. Thor performed the ceremony.

Anderson was employed as a chemical engineer at Carborundum in Niagara, N.Y., and as a self-employed contractor. Mrs. Anderson had been employed by The Post-Journal, as a receptionist for Drs. N. Davis and J. Penhollow, as a secretary at the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church and as a waitress at the Marvin House. She is presently employed by McDonald's Restaurant. They are both members of the First Baptist Church in Sherman, N.Y.
