The Honorable Brenda A. Smith submitted a comprehensive court report at a Town of New Albion's meeting. In it, she informed the council about a number of court-related subjects:

The receipt of a grant in the amount of $3,559.58 for which she applied last year to the Justice Court Assistance Program (JCAP). She said she will be applying for additional funding in May's new round of grant applications.

The successful progress of Court Clerk Dan Busekist in a number of endeavors. He has been implementing computer software upgrades that are available to the court, but were not utilized in the past. Busekist has also been instrumental in retrieving uncollected scofflaw fines, and, in the same vein, sending court appearance notices to defendants who have chosen to ignore tickets or previous appearance notices.

The court presently maintains regular weekly hours on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Busekist is usually present all day on Tuesdays.

The court has been made the recipient of some furniture being disposed of by the Niagara Falls Court. It is presently being stored in a warehouse in that city. Town of New Albion Highway Superintendent Jerry Cobo said his department would take a truck to pick it up.

Smith also turned over court funds collected on behalf of the town in the amounts of $2,225.00 for January, and $1,202.50 for February.
