Dan and Katie Smith of Bemus Point, N.Y., celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on Jan 9, 2010, with a party at their home. They have two children, Christina McVeigh and Shawn Smith. They also have three grandchildren. Also in attendance from the original wedding party was Madeline Morganti, maid of honor.
Smith and the former Katie Cadden were married Jan. 10, 1970, at Ss. Peter and Paul Church. The Rev. Thomas Byers performed the ceremony.
Smith is vice president and owner of Plantrol Systems in Westfield, N.Y. He is a member of Rotary, Westfield Memorial Hospital Foundation, a board member of WIB and treasurer of the Bemus Bay Dock Club. Mrs. Smith is the executive director of the YWCA in Westfield. She is a 2001 graduate of the Chautauqua Leadership Network, a member of the board of directors of The Resource Center and a member of the Jamestown Community College Alumni Association.
