Mary B. Morse, 92, formerly of Methodist Gardens, Falconer, died at 11:06 a.m. Monday (Dec. 28, 2009) in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center.

She was the widow of Eugene F. Morse, whom she married Jan. 17, 1941, in Stephens City, Va., and who died Jan. 7, 1983.

Mary was born July 22, 1917, in Russell, and was the daughter of the late Jesse W. and Mamie Dunbar Bates.

She was a 1936 graduate of Mayville High School and had taken college courses at Cobleskill College, Fredonia State College and Erie Community College. In earlier years, she had been employed by various restaurants in Mayville, Mayville Ben Franklin for 10 years, and in later years was employed by Lutheran Social Services, retiring in 1982.

She was a member of the Buffalo Street United Methodist Church and its Utopia Circle, was a former member of the Elmwood United Methodist Church, and had taught Sunday school at Mayville United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Girl Scout Council of Chautauqua County and had served on the Board of Elections in Mayville for 20 years.

Surviving are two daughters: Sandra Kreutz of Falconer and Jaclyn Vasseur of Broken Arrow, Okla.; three grandchildren: Kenneth E. Kreutz of Westfield, Kamilyn M. Kreutz of Falconer, and Andrea Wilson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two step grandchildren: Charles Vasseur of California and John Vasseur of Texas; three great-grandchildren: Richard and Zarchary Martin, both of Falconer,and Jacob Wilson of Oklahoma; and two sisters: June Wilcox and Alice Paulus, both of Mayville.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two infant children: Patricia Ann Morse in 1945 and Dennis Morse in 1952; a brother, Richard Hunt; and a sister, Ruth Rothwell.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Rev. Aaron Bjork, pastor of Stillwater United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.

Friends will be received by the family from 5 to 7 p.m. today and for one hour prior to the funeral service Thursday in the funeral home.
