Ronald E. and Takuko (Kabota) Ecklund of Jamestown, N.Y., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 15, 2009, with a family dinner in North Warren, Pa. They have two sons: Keith (Kimberly) of Jamestown, and Christopher (Traci) of North Warren, Pa. They also have three granddaughters: Kaileigh Ann, Madisyn Louise, and Ryleigh Grace, all of North Warren, Pa.
Ecklund and the former Takuko Kabota were married Nov. 2, 1959, in Fukuoka City, Japan. The mayor of Fukuoka City performed the ceremony.
Ecklund is retired from the Jamestown Police Department and as a truck driver.
