Nancy L. Snyder

CHERRY CREEK Nancy L. Snyder, age 70, of Cherry Creek passed away on Dec. 5, 2009, at Brooks Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family after a brave battle with cancer.

Born March 24, 1939, in Conewango Valley, she is the daughter of the late Hershel and Mae Rice Nickerson.

She was a retired head cook from St. Vincent's Retirement Home in Dunkirk.

Her love and passion was gardening and bird watching, but devoted most of her life to her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Nancy is survived by her children, Diane (Neil) Faulkner, Tina (Matt) LaVoice, Marcy (Tom) McQuiggan and Jody (Guy) Cornell, all of Cherry Creek; Terry (Rhoda) Snyder and Tim Snyder, both of South Dayton; Peter (Carol) Snyder of Sinclairville; Jay Snyder of Alberta, Canada; and Laura Hunt of Cassadaga; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Clifford Nickerson of Brocton, David Nickerson of Fredonia and Glenn Robinson of Michigan; and by nieces, nephews and dear friends, Marion and Cathy Clark.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Oscar ''Pete'' Snyder, whom she married Sept. 19, 1954, and passed away Feb. 14, 2004; a son, Christopher Allen Snyder; a grandson, Bradley John Snyder; a brother, Louis Nickerson; two sisters, Laura Pattyson and Sis Pontious; and a daughter-in-law, Ruby Lynn Barbara Snyder.

Funeral service 11 a.m. Wednesday in Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville. Visitation 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Burial in Sheridan Cemetery.

Family suggests memorial to Hospice of Chautauqua County.
