Anthony J. Crasti
Anthony J. Crasti, 85, of 15 Chautauqua Ave. died at 9:58 a.m. Friday (Nov. 27, 2009) in WCA Hospi- tal.
A lifelong area resident he was born July 22, 1924 in Jamestown a son of the late Dominick and Antoni- na Sapienza Crasti.
He was a graduate of Jamestown High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1942-1945 during World War II. During his tour of duty he had received the World War II Victory Medal, the American Theater Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with four bronze stars and the Good Conduct Medal.
Before his retirement in 1986 he was employed by Jamestown Metal Products for 42 years. He had worked as a self employed wallpa- per hanger for many years and in earlier years had worked at the former Na- tional Worsted Mills.
He was a Communicant of St. James Catholic Church and was a life member and past com- mander of the John W. Tif- fany Post 53 Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of the Henry Mosher Post 638 American Legion, Falconer and the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club. In his earlier years he was an accomplished accor- dion player.
He will be remembered as a loving and caring dad and nanu. He loved playing cards with his friends and also enjoyed bowling, golf and working in his garden.
Surviving is a son Daniel A. (Catherine) Crasti of Jamestown, a daughter De- bra A. Crasti of Rochester, NY, two granddaughters Kimberly and Emily Crasti of Jamestown and four sis- ters Annie Messina, Helen Damond, Rita Ellis all of Jamestown, Linda Graham of FL.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife the former Annette M. Piazza Crasti whom he married Oct. 23, 1948 and who died Aug. 20, 2008, a brother Frank Crasti and 3 sisters Frances Young, Josephine Crasti and Mary Crasti.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. John L. Kuhlmann will be cele- brant. Burial will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 6-9 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 5:45 p.m. Sunday.
