Eleanor L. Hampson, 87, of the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center, formerly of 3039 Fluvanna Townline Road, died at 7:20 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, in the WCA Hospital.

A Fluvanna resident since 1946, she was born Aug. 17, 1922, in Onoville, N.Y., the daughter of Wilfred and Esther Jane Putnam Reynolds.

She was the widow of Thomas Edward ''Ed'' Hampson, whom she married Aug. 23, 1943.

Mrs. Hampson was a 1940 graduate of Randolph Central School, and was the private cook for the Ronald Reeding Family and formerly was a China decorator for the China Shop in East Liverpool, Ohio.

She was a member of the North Jamestown Congregation of Jehovah Witness. She was an accomplished artist and painter and an exceptional cook and baker. She enjoyed the interaction with other people very much. Along with her husband, Eleanor was instrumental in the furtherance of the good news of Jehovah God's kingdom in the Jamestown area.

Surviving are a daughter, Trulla (Wolfgang) Bayer of Prince Edward Island, Canada; six grandchildren: Lydia (Derek) Hampel of Montreal, Canada, Esther and Jonathan Bayer of Prince Edward Island, Onali (James) Hymers of Hannibal, Mo., Edward and Shel-ley Ervin, both of Fort Worth, Texas; and a great-granddaughter, Roryona Hymers of Hannibal, Mo. She was also survived by a spiritual daughter, Peggy Johnson and her children: Deanna, Samual and Jacqueline Moore and DeVonte Green.

Mrs. Hampson was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edward ''Ed'' Hampson who died Jan. 8, 1967; a daughter, Beth L. Ervin who died July 3, 2009; her grandparents Clyde and Lucy Putnam (who raised her), and her spiritual granddaughter, Janelle Moore.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009, in the South Jamestown Congregation of Jehovah Witness, 181 Martin Road, Jamestown. Paul Inserra will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.

No visitation will be observed.
