Hazel I. Jimerson

Hazel I. Jimerson, 76, of 3 Gerald Ave., Lakewood, N.Y., died at 10:50 p.m. Monday (Nov. 23, 2009) in her home.

A lifelong area resident, she was born Feb. 24, 1933, in Jamestown, N.Y., a daughter of the late Sampson and Francelian Printup Jimerson.

She was a graduate of the Jamestown Community College School of Nursing, first as a licensed practical nurse and later becoming a registered nurse.

Before her retirement, she was employed as a registered nurse for the Visiting Nursing Association of Western New York for many years. In earlier years, she had worked for the former Fenton Park Nursing Home and the Greenhurst Health Care Center.

She was a member of the Seneca Nation of Indians Turtle Clan. She will be remembered as one who loved to cook and bake for her family and also enjoyed spending time crocheting.

Surviving are three daughters: Nona Meacham and Diane Seekins, both of Jamestown, and Danielle Davis of Frewsburg; four sons: Doug Harrison, Richard Harrison, and R.B.W. Harrison Jr., all of Jamestown, and William Fletcher Harrison of Lakewood; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rose Covert of Steamburg, N.Y.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her companion R.B.W. Harrison Sr.; a daughter, Pearl Harrison; two brothers: Donald and Daniel Jimerson; and two sisters: Shirley Gustafson and Virginia McCann.

The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. Msgr. Joseph M. Dowdell, pastor of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lakewood, will officiate. Burial will be in the Pine Hill Cemetery, Falconer, N.Y.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
