Southwestern Wins Far West Regional; CLVCS To Be In State Volleyball Final

By The Post-Journal Staff
POSTED: November 21, 2009

The Southwestern Trojans are one half of football away from advancing to the state finals in Syracuse next weekend.

A 12-yard touchdown pass by Zack Sopak to Levi Bursch after a Chenango Forks turnover deep in Chenango Forks territory was the only score in the first half. Then, to open the second half, Southwestern took the kickoff and drove methodically down the field, capping the drive with a Sopak 4-yard touchdown pass to Levi Bursch. Another touchdown pass by Sopak, coming after two fourth-down sacks deep in Southwestern territory, took the lead to 21-0.

Meanwhile, the Cattaraugus-Little Valley girls volleyball team advanced to the state finals Sunday against T.A. Edison High School by going 4-2 in pool play on Saturday.
