Northern Chautauqua County

Jamestown Chamber co-locates with DJDC

POSTED: November 19, 2009
JAMESTOWN — The Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce has announced that the Jamestown Community Chamber has co-located its offices with the Downtown Jamestown Development Corp. (DJDC) at 19 W. Third St., Jamestown. “This move is part of an overall strategy to create a stronger partnership with organizations in the county and local communities to deliver more support and more value to the business community,” said Todd Tranum, President/CEO of the Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce. “As part of our new community development model, we are striving to create partnerships with local organizations like the DJDC to support the business community and help support economic development efforts.” Jamestown Chamber President Ann Mason said, “The Jamestown Chamber has worked closely with the DJDC for many years in helping to financially support events, share resources and provide volunteers for activities. Co-location is another step in the process to strengthen our relationship even more. One specific project we look forward to is partnering with the DJDC in forming a visitor’s center in Jamestown.” DJDC Executive Director Lee Harkness said, “We appreciate the County Chamber and Jamestown Chamber’s continued support of our projects and initiatives; this move is an opportunity to expand our partnership and continue to work on our shared goals.” Jamestown follows the Fredonia and Westfield chambers in sharing locations with local businesses. “This move exemplifies the types of partnerships we have initiated to enhance outcomes for our members and the business community,” said Doug Mahany, Chairman of the Chautauqua County Chamber. “The co-locations will facilitate tourism and improve visibility for the local chambers.” In addition, The Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce will also co-locate its Jamestown office with the Manufacturers Technology Institute at JCC early next year. Commenting on the move, JCC president Dr. Gregory T. DeCinque said, “As JCC and MTI share the Chamber’s commitment to economic development and community service, we are pleased to engage in a new level of partnership and look forward to welcoming Chamber personnel to campus. The relocation of Chamber offices to JCC’s Jamestown Campus complements the north county arrangement where the chamber has been located at the JCC North County Center for several years.”
