Eastern Star Holds Reception To Honor New Grand Officers
Chautauqua District Order of the Eastern Star held a public reception at the Masonic Temple, Jamestown, recently to honor new Grand Officers: Francelia Skoglund, District Deputy Grand Matron; David Himelein, District Grand Lecturer, and Mildred Jankowski, Grand Representative of Illinois near the Grand Chapter of New York.
Host chapters were Mt Sinai-Mecca 132, Jamestown; Acacia 96, Sherman; and Forestville 247, Forestville. Officers of the afternoon were: Matrons: Janet Trussalo, Georgann Bemis, and Mary Ann Olszewski. Patrons were Donald Stewart, Franklin Werren, and John Olszewski. Associate Matron was Lori Petersen; Associate Patron Francis Petersen; Conductress Karen Thompson, Associate Conductress Helen Patti; Secretary Martha Woolley; Chaplain Ella Mae Saye; Marshal Donna Johnson; Assistant Marshal Sandra Stewart; Musician Sue Rhebergen; Color Bearer Lynn Griswold, Warder James Patti.
Past Grand Patron Quentin Bensink 2007 and present visiting Grand Officers from Corry, Pa. and Allegany District were present.
Francelia Skoglund was escorted by her husband Tim and granddaughter Samantha Hall and was greeted with High Hopes.
David Himelein was escorted by his wife Joan and was greeted with a can-do attitude that reminds us of the song "Accentuate the Positive."
Mildred Jankowski was escorted by her daughter Nancy Kubera and great-granddaughter Danielle Pavlak, who is Beloved Queen of Amethyst Triangle 203 in Silver Creek. Greetings were extended with the state symbols of Illinois.
Each honoree thanked everyone for their support and looks forward to a good year. It was noted that - in keeping with a theme "Working Together to Build a Bright Future" - Amethyst Triangle #203 had a reception at the Masonic Hall, Main St., in Silver Creek. An installation will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the same location. The public is welcome to attend.
Past Grand Officers of Chautauqua District will meet Nov 29 at 2 p.m. at the Masonic Temple in Fredonia on Main St.
Using initials of Mrs Skoglund and Mr Himelein, a Chautauqua District theme is "Have Fun in Stars with Devoted Harmony." The Grand Matron and Patron's initials have a theme of "Kindness Manifested Kindles Rededication to Outstanding Service." The pin of the year is a silver heart witha sapphire stone and blue rays indicating God's love in our hearts should be shared with each other. The hymn of the year is "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing." Projects for the year include "Save the Home" at Oriskany, Social Service Program, Educational Assistance and Nursing Scholarships, and support of Masonic Youth organizations. A travel program to Mt Rushmore, Grand Canyon, etc. for 13 days is open to the public.
A rainbow for promise of a bright future and apple trees for fruits of NYS as well as fruits of our labors - as we work for our Order and communities in which we live-are among the emblems of the year.
Refreshments were served following the meeting.
