Ross Grange Marks Veterans Day

POSTED: November 15, 2009

FALCONER - A Veteran's Day program was included when Ross Grange members met recently.

The history was given and noted the difference between Memorial Day and Veteran's Day. A Veteran's Day exhibit is on display at Falconer Free Library of "Little Known Facts about Wars." This was arranged by Winston and Valerie Bartholemew, as was a photo which appeared in The Post-Journal on Veterans Day, Nov. 11.

Details for committees of the Holiday Happenings Craft Show were made. Betty Wakefield will be overall chairman. The show is free and open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, the day of the Santa Parade in Falconer. There will be many craft tables, Chinese auction, bake sale and lunch will be available. The Falcon's Nest Banquet Hall is easily accessible with plenty of off-street parking.

Details of the recent County Pomona Grange meeting were reviewed. Leona Peterson and Mrs. Wakefield, State Grange delegates, reported on the many aspects of the meeting in Batavia. Some of these were legislative work, speakers, including John Valentine, the national representative from Indiana, and the New York agriculture and markets director. The local representatives said they were impressed by the seating drills of the Junior Granges and Youth Department. The 2010 meeting will be in Watertown.

The next regular meeting of Ross Grange will be Monday, Nov. 23, with the program provided by Colleen Kimball of her 13 days spent in Europe with the People to People Youth Ambassador program. Information will be given for shoppers of the adopted family assigned by the Salvation Army.
