Carol Fisher Guthrie

POSTED: November 10, 2009

Carol Fisher Guthrie of Ottsville, Pa., formerly of New York City, passed away Nov. 6, 2009.

Carol was the beloved wife and loving companion of David Guthrie for more than 32 years.

She was born in Jamestown, N.Y., on March 17, 1943, to the late James and Doris (Root) Fisher. Carol was raised by her late aunt and uncle, June and Marshal Johnson along with their four children: Gary, Pam, Mary and Becky.

Carol was a flight attendant for Pan American Airways for 26 years. A career she truly loved.

After moving to Bucks County, she worked for many years at the Frenchtown Inn, in Frenchtown, N.J.

The loves of her life were her husband, her friends, traveling the world, fine food, New York and London theater, a good book and so much more. Carol was most at peace watching the beauty of the ocean and especially walking her favorite Cape Cod beaches.

She will be remembered for her sense of humor and her concern and care for others, whose needs she put before her own.

In addition to her husband, Carol is survived by her sister, Sandra R. Abraham of Goldsboro, N.C.; her friend and loving mother-in-law, Ruth Guthrie of Ottsville; her sister-in-law, Sarah Melvin and brother-in-law, Walter Melvin of New York City. Carol will be deeply missed by her three nephews, one niece and nine great-nieces and nephews and by her very good friends, Beverly Place of Erwinna, Pa., and Hilary Zwicky of New York City, and the many others who helped her through her courageous battle with brain cancer.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers donations in Carol's memory may be made to the Last Chance Ranch Rescue Dogs, 9 Beck Road, Quakertown, PA 18951.

Arrangements by the Robert W. Snyder Funeral Home, Riegelsville, Pa.
