Alberta M. VanArsdale
Alberta M. VanArsdale, 79 years old, former 18-year resident of West Avenue, Brocton and formerly of Dunkirk died Nov. 4, 2009, at Clovin, New Mexico.
She was born in Ithaca, the daughter of the late Paul and Evalena Monroe Burley.
She retired in 1995 after 20 years of service as the head cook at the State University of New York at Fredonia. She was formerly employed with M. Wiles Clothing Industry of Dunkirk and Glen-Nora Donut Shop of Fredonia. She was a former member of the Ladies of the Moose Lodge of Dunkirk.
She is survived by two sons: Chester (Kathy) VanArsdale of Jamestown, Hial (Bob) (Patricia) VanArsdale of Portland, daughter Ada Dean of New Mexico, 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis Sprague of Brocton and Eleanor Meadows of Brocton.
She was predeceased by her companion, Hugh (Sy) Fiebelkorn, who died in 1990, an infant son, Philip, one brother, Charles Bur-ley; two sisters, Shirley Burr and Marian Mathis, one great-grandson and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, from the Morse Funeral Home of Brocton. The Rev. Larry Morrison will officiate. Interment will be in the Laonoa Cemetery. Friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.
